Position: Special Procedures Tech 1 (Radiology Technologist)

Position

Special Procedures Technician 1 (Radiology Technologist) – Performs interventional procedures using ionizing radiation under the direction of physicians.

Responsibilities

Assist in all aspects of invasive procedures, including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring and recording hemodynamic parameters in accordance with policy and procedure.

Assist in diagnostic and interventional procedures. Operates all equipment/devices as appropriate including but not limited to:

Radiology equipment.
Transfer images to PACS system and check image quality and proper identification.

Position patient on examination table and adjust immobilization devices as required to obtain optimum views of the area requested by physician.

Receive and review requests for interventional studies.

Transfer patients onto medical equipment, wheelchairs, and stretchers.

Assume care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and procedures to ensure safety and comfort, providing explanations of procedures and answering questions to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.

Apply principles of radiographic protection using beam restriction devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patients and staff.

Set up sterile tray, clean and dispose after procedure.

Coordinate work to achieve maximum productivity.

Assist physician with administration of contrast media and with arterial, venous and percutaneous procedures.

Participate in activities that promote professional growth and meet minimum requirements for continuing education as directed by ARRT and the Massachusetts Radiation Control Program.

Assist in maintaining inventory for the department.

Perform routine daily checklists and report any equipment not in proper working order.

Assist and scrub with vascular surgeons/interventional radiologists in high‑pressure ruptured AAA and routine AAA and peripheral bypass/interventional procedures in the operating room.

Utilize hospital information system, hemodynamic monitoring software and PACS system software.

Perform preventative maintenance of interventional equipment, including:

Cleaning interventional equipment.
Performing routine safety checks and inspections to ensure equipment is current, in good order and ready for use.

Perform all aspects of electrophysiology (applies only to EP Tech).

Remain current on new developments in electrophysiology (applies only to EP Tech).

Consistently provide service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and coworkers.

Perform other work‑related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications Tech I – Grade S16R (Job Code 8150)

Read, write and communicate in English.
High school graduate or GED.
Minimum of two years post‑technical‑school radiology experience (or six months recent experience within past two years as a Special Procedures Technologist).
Graduate of a JRCERT‑accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
Registered by ARRT.
Licensed by the State of Massachusetts as a Radiologic Technologist.
Current BLS certification required.
ACLS and IABP required within six months of employment.
Successful passage of Basic Arrhythmia Challenge Exam or Basic Arrhythmia course within twelve months of accepting the position.

Tech II – Grades S17R (Job Codes 8151 & 8152)

All qualifications of Tech I.
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification (RCIS) or Cardiac Interventional certification (CI) or Vascular Interventional certification (VI) OR three years recent experience within last five years in a cardiac cath lab or interventional radiology (Job Code 8151).

All qualifications of Tech I.
Completion of EP training program (Job Code 8152).

Tech III – Grade S18R (Job Code 8153)

All qualifications of Tech I.
Five years recent experience within past five years in cardiovascular EP OR any two of the following:
Cardiac Interventional certification (CI), Vascular Interventional certification (VI), Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification (RCIS), Completion of EP training program.

Schedule Details

40 hours per week, rotating days/evenings (8 a.m.–4 p.m. or 9 a.m.–5 p.m.), occasional weekends & holidays. On‑call rotation (on‑site within 30 minutes) required for nights, weekends and holidays. On‑the‑job training provided, EP/IR cath rotation required.

Compensation

The pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. This is not inclusive of the value of Cape Cod Healthcare’s benefits package (if applicable), which includes among other benefits healthcare, dental, vision and retirement.

This role offers hourly pay at $37.63 – $55.65. Sign‑on bonus eligible.
