Patient Care Technician, West Teaching and Innovation Nights

Position Summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) seeks a Patient Care Technician to join our Critical Care team. Under the direction of a registered nurse, the Technician will provide direct clinical and support services to patients, families, and staff, ensuring a clean, safe, and patient‑centered environment.

• Perform patient care interventions such as vital‑sign checks, bathing, feeding, dressing wounds, and hygiene assistance.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families.
• Clean and maintain patient rooms, linens, and equipment.
• Assist with environmental and inventory tasks to support safe, efficient operations.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to meet patient, family, and staff needs.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, including CPR, current or obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
• Basic math and computer proficiency.
• One of the following:
  • 1 year as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting.
  • Current enrollment in a nursing program with completion of two clinical rotations.
  • Completion of an approved Patient Care Technician training program.
  • Completion of an approved certified medical assistant training program.
  • 1 year of experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only).
• Fluency in another language is a plus.
• Previous medical/surgical experience preferred.
