Position Summary
Under supervision, performs non-invasive diagnostic tests for cardiovascular diseases to support quality patient care. The Echocardiographer is responsible for preliminary echo cardiographic measurements, summarizing diagnostic data and communicating information to the manager or requesting physician.
Responsibilities- Perform preliminary echo cardiographic measurements and interpret exams.
- Summarize diagnostic data and communicate findings.
- Operate phono‑apexcardiogram, duplex imaging, and ultrasound equipment.
- Explain procedures to patients and obtain informed consent.
- Perform stress and dobutamine echocardiograms, vascular studies, and Holter monitor analyses.
- Coordinate portable exams and manage daily workflow.
- Provide guidance to technicians, fellows, and students.
- Assist with billing charge entry and maintain patient records.
- Maintain equipment, inventory, and safety procedures.
- Lead senior administrative duties, including workflow delegation and troubleshooting IT systems.
- Teach technical staff and contribute to equipment maintenance and repair.
- Maintain professional growth through education, literature, and workshops.
- Education:
Completion of a two‑year cardiology or diagnostic sonography program. - Certification:
Preference for certification or eligibility with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in echocardiography. - Experience:
Minimum 1 year in hospital echocardiography; 5+ years in a stress lab and with amyloid patients. - Knowledge of congenital heart disease, general cardiograph procedures, and sonography equipment.
- Computer proficiency, including data entry and interpretation of computerized information.
- Strong interpersonal skills for patient communication and teamwork.
- Confidentiality of sensitive health information.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills a plus.
