Neighbor Health Behavioral Health Clinician

Responsible for providing clinical behavioral health services to patients within Neighbor Health's Recovery Services program, a multidisciplinary outpatient substance use treatment program located within a community health center setting. Recovery Services delivers coordinated care for individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, offering access to medical, behavioral health, and support services within the broader health center environment. The Behavioral Health Clinician is an integral member of a collaborative team dedicated to delivering compassionate, evidence-based, recovery-oriented care to a diverse patient population.

This role offers the opportunity to engage in meaningful, high-impact work supporting individuals navigating complex substance use and behavioral health challenges within an accessible, community-based model of care. This position works in close collaboration with Recovery Services clinical and administrative leadership and functions within a BSAS-licensed outpatient substance use treatment program in alignment with Neighbor Health policies and applicable regulatory standards.

• Delivers high-quality, person-centered behavioral health care, including comprehensive assessment and short-term and longer-term psychotherapy tailored to the needs of individuals in recovery.
• Conducts thorough initial and ongoing assessments and develops meaningful, individualized treatment plans that reflect patient voice, clinical insight, and BSAS regulatory standards.
• Ensures treatment plans remain active, relevant, and responsive to patient progress, maintaining accurate documentation in required BSAS format.
• Provides individual, group, and family counseling for patients, as needed, with substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions using trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approaches that foster engagement, resilience, and long-term stability.
• Actively participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and case consultations, contributing clinical perspective to coordinated, whole-person care.
• Responds thoughtfully and effectively to patients experiencing acute behavioral health or substance-related challenges in collaboration with medical and nursing colleagues.
• Builds strong therapeutic relationships that support patient motivation, trust, and sustained engagement in care.
• Connects patients to internal and external treatment resources, recovery supports, and community services that strengthen continuity of care.
• Applies evidence-based practices including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Stages of Change, using person-centered engagement strategies that meet individuals where they are and support forward movement in recovery.
• Supported by Recovery Services clinical and administrative leadership while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary treatment team to provide thoughtful patient engagement.
• Documents clinical services and patient progress with clarity and accuracy, upholding organizational standards and BSAS requirements.
• Contributes to quality improvement initiatives and program development efforts that enhance access, engagement, and outcomes within Recovery Services.
• Manage assigned clinical in-basket tasks and care coordination responsibilities in a timely manner.

What You'll Bring:

• Graduate of an accredited Master's program in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
• Current Massachusetts licensure (LMHC, LADC-I, LMFT, LCSW, LICSW, or Licensed Psychologist) or eligible.
• Minimum of two years relevant post-graduate experience, preferably in substance use treatment, counseling, mental health, or community health settings.
• Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral health and substance use treatment modalities.
• Ability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary team serving individuals with complex medical and behavioral health needs.

Salary:

• Starting at $73,500 and up to $104,833 based on licensure level and years of experience.
• Not independently licensed: starting at $73,500 and up to $81,149 based on years of experience.
• Independently licensed: starting at $86,000 and up to $104,833 based on years of experience.
