Tech III, Sterile Processing at Boston Children's Hospital plays a key role in safe, high quality pediatric care. In this advanced sterile processing role, you will decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize a wide range of surgical instruments and specialty sets for complex pediatric procedures. You'll operate and troubleshoot washers, sterilizers, and tracking systems, perform biological and chemical monitoring, and help maintain regulatory compliance (The Joint Commission, AAMI).

Working in a collaborative, mission driven team, you'll support OR and procedural areas while mentoring junior technicians and promoting best practices in patient safety and infection prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and package surgical instruments and complex sets
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot washers, sterilizers, and related equipment
  • Perform biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring and document results
  • Maintain compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and hospital policies
  • Support OR and procedure areas with timely case cart and instrument availability
  • Identify and remove defective or malfunctioning instruments from service
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior sterile processing staff
  • Participate in quality improvement, audits, and staff education
  • Collaborate with OR, nursing, and materials management to resolve issues
  • Contribute to a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement
