** Job Summary**$750 Sign on bonus for PCA new hires, current MGB employees not applicable.
Schedule:
Days (7am-7pm, 7am-3pm) and Evenings (3pm-11pm) Shift option of (2x)-12hr and (1x)-8hr shift per week;
OR (4x) 8hr shifts per week Rotating weekend and weekday schedule.
White 11 is in search of a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Patient Care Assistant I (PCA). This individual must be able to provide day and evening schedule, rotating weekends and scheduled holidays.
The medical unit, part of the teaching service at MGH, is a twenty-four bed acute unit, located in the historic White Building in Boston, MA. The patients on this unit represent a vast adult population with a wide range of complex medical problems including cardiovascular, pulmonary, endocrine, neurological, psychosocial and infectious disease. Collaboration with all health care workers across disciplines is fundamental to our care on White 11.
Ideal applicants must be able to provide weekly coverage on days and evenings to be considered for this permanent opportunity.

Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions
-Performs patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including, but not limited to, performing and documenting point of care, vital signs, EKGs, bathing and other sanitary needs of patients, transferring and assisting with ambulation of patients, 1:1 patient observation for safety purposes, and phlebotomy. Assist RNs and physicians with other exams and treatments as required.
-Completes all documentation such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
-Assists patients with food tray setup, eating, and feeding, as needed.
-Ensures that patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately, as needs indicate and as patient volumes change.
-Retrieves equipment from other areas, sets up equipment, cleans equipment between patient use, and reports malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy.
-Assists with admitting and discharging patients.
-Facilitates orientation of new PCA team members as directed.
-Interacts with patients, visitors, and other care team members effectively
-Communicates with nursing staff effectively and in a timely manner regarding issues related to patient care and condition.
-Fosters a positive, collaborative team environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.
