Patient Care Assistant – The Emergency Department

A $750.00 sign on bonus is being offered to eligible new employees hired in our PCA positions. Schedule 24 hours per week | (2) 12-hour shifts

Evenings | 11:00 am – 11:00 pm Rotational holiday and weekend schedule

The Emergency Department is a Level I Adult, Pediatric and Burn Trauma Center. It spans the ground floor of 3 buildings and is divided into several areas, including pediatric and psychiatric areas. Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

• Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
• Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
• Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
• Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.
• Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.
• Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support [BLS]

Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification]

Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician [National Certification] preferred

Experience
Experience working in patient care/elder care 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
