Clinical Research Coordinator I

The Massachusetts General Hospital Down Syndrome Program (MGH DSP) is a team-based, multidisciplinary initiative that supports individuals with Down syndrome across all ages and their families. It offers evidence-based clinical care, education, and research to help people with Down syndrome achieve their full potential. The clinic attends to patients from prenatal stages through adulthood and maintains a strong research focus on improving their health outcomes.

The Clinical Research Coordinator I will collaborate closely with the Program Manager, the DSP social services team, multidisciplinary providers, patients, and families. This role involves coordinating clinical research, supporting outpatient clinic operations, and engaging in community health activities. The successful candidate will manage clinic and research tasks while assisting patients and families in navigating benefits, assistance programs, healthcare, community systems, and addressing barriers to care.

We seek a motivated, compassionate individual eager to learn about clinical research operations and multidisciplinary care, and passionate about enhancing healthcare for people with Down syndrome.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review proposals to ensure compliance with sponsor and organizational guidelines; confirm all sponsor requirements are met.
  • Recruit patients for clinical trials and conduct phone interviews.
  • Verify the accuracy of study forms and update them according to protocol.
  • Prepare data for analysis and entry.
  • Document patient visits and procedures.
  • Assist with regulatory binders and quality assurance/control procedures.
  • Help with interviewing study subjects.
  • Support study regulator submissions.
  • Coordinate outpatient clinic flow and multidisciplinary patient visits with the clinical team.
  • Work respectfully and effectively with Self-Advocates with Down syndrome involved in clinic and education activities.
  • Assist the DSP social services team in helping patients and families access benefits, public assistance, and community programs.
  • Support resource identification, applications, referrals, and follow-up for services such as DDS, SNAP, Medical Assistance, Community Servings, MGB ACO resources, behavioral health supports, and related programs.
Qualifications:
  • Education:

    Bachelor's Degree related field of study required.
  • Experience:

    Some relevant research project work 0-1 year preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Careful attention to detail and good organizational skills. Ability to follow directions. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Computer literacy. Working knowledge of clinical research protocols. Ability to demonstrate respect and professionalism for subjects' rights and individual needs.
