Responsibilities
Performs routine procedures in MRI on a scheduled and emergency basis. Reviews and evaluates requisitions for MR imaging procedures, abstracts data from patient charts and determines appropriateness of the procedure given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations. Identifies patients according to Hospital Policy with 2 identifiers. Selects appropriate equipment and technical parameters to identify pathologic and normal anatomy. Assesses patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develop a care plan for that patient's specific needs.
Explains the examination and is able to answer questions from patient and parents regarding the exam and magnetic field environment. Follows MR QC Exam/Data Integrity workflow expectations. Practices High Reliability Training. Consistently provides exceptional care and service.
Responds to the uniqueness of the patient, creating a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions through the INeedit application.
Assists in organizing and maintaining daily operations.
Participates in departmental and hospital meetings. Complies with ETU. Complies with HIPPA regulations. Practices the BCH 6 Core Values: excellence, innovation, communication, respect, teamwork and accountability.
Completes all required competencies and documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Maintains up-to-date licensure/certification/registration in departmental file. Furthers professional education and maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies and procedures.
- Current licensure/certification/registration as applicable.
- Ability to explain procedures and answer questions for patients and families.
- Knowledge of MRI safety and environment.
- Strong patient and family communication skills.
- Compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of regulations and standards; completes required competencies and documentation.
- Ability to work on scheduled and emergency basis.
