Psychologist Supervisor

Supervises students who see patients for mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. Diagnoses disorders including nature and extent and determines the appropriate course of treatment for the patient. Uses talk therapy to treat patient illness or distress. Attends faculty meetings, conducts interviews, mentors, and conducts seminars.

Job responsibilities include:

• Training psychology interns in essential skill areas of clinical/counseling psychology.
• Integrating scientific and professional practice attitudes and skills.
• Integrating basic scientific practice with knowledge and practice of ethical and professional standards.
• Integrating basic scientific practice with knowledge and sensitivity to issues of individual cultural and ethnic diversity.

Other duties include adhering to departmental and institutional guidelines for universal precautions and safety policies, performing administrative duties, and participating in activities that promote professional development and understanding of current research and therapies.

Job requirements include:

• Possessing a Doctorate Degree in Psychology or Counseling Psychology or MD with psychiatry specialization.
• Being licensed or eligible for licensure in Massachusetts within three months of hire.
• Having completed one year of an APA approved internship or APA approved residency and at least five years of full-time experience working as a psychologist or a psychiatrist.
• Having experience supervising students.

Knowledge and skills required include diagnosing psychiatric disorders, determining the appropriate course of treatment, supervising students, analytical ability, interpersonal skills, knowledge of community resources, cultural sensitivity, effective English language skills, and basic computer skills.
