Overview
Boston Medical Center (BMC) and Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine are seeking a Chief Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to lead the APP staff within the Department of Emergency Medicine. The Chief APP provides oversight of all APP practice, directs Lead APPs, and collaborates with departmental and nursing leadership to support quality, safety, and operational excellence.
Managerial Duties- Serve as clinical resource, providing consultation, education, and mentorship to staff.
- Plan and supervise educational activities for APP staff.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and ensure staff meet mandatory training and licensing requirements.
- Conduct annual performance reviews in collaboration with physician and department leadership.
- Address behavioral issues and resolve interpersonal conflicts among APP staff.
- Oversee operational aspects, including scheduling, PTO tracking, and HR coordination.
- Coordinate department clinic schedules to maintain coverage.
- Lead initiatives and projects to improve workflow and patient care.
- Perform additional duties related to education and research as defined by the department.
- Graduate of an accredited APP program with a master’s degree.
- Five or more years of clinical experience in an emergency department.
- Preferably at least two years of progressive administrative experience and a proven record of leadership in a complex healthcare setting.
- Mastery of required clinical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, building trust and fostering an inclusive environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing work environments and manage competing demands.
- Leadership ability to guide, direct, and mentor staff.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and hospital registration systems.
- Strict confidentiality of sensitive personal and health information.
Salary range: $140,500 – $204,000, based on qualifications and experience. Total compensation includes benefits such as medical, dental, vision, FSA, 403(b) matching, paid time off, and additional employee support programs.
