The MGB Controlled Substance Auditor Certified Pharmacy Technician supports the diversion prevention and controlled substance compliance programs across one or more MGB locations through detailed operational auditing, data analysis, and reconciliation activities. This role is responsible for monitoring controlled substance transactions across multiple systems, identifying discrepancies, variances, and unusual patterns, and maintaining accurate audit documentation and records in alignment with regulatory requirements.

The technician serves as a critical partner in surveillance and investigation processes by compiling data, preparing case summaries, and escalating potential risks to the pharmacist for clinical review and decision-making. Through disciplined monitoring, thorough documentation, and reliable reporting, this role strengthens oversight, supports regulatory compliance, and contributes to a high-reliability approach to controlled substance stewardship and risk detection.

High School Diploma or Equivalent required

• Pharmacy Technician [State License] required
• Pharmacy Technician Certification [CPhT] - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required

• Pharmacy technician 0-1 year required

• Ability to read, interpret, and follow verbal and written instructions, including department policies and procedures
• Understand HIPAA privacy rules and will use discretion handling patient related information
• Ability to adhere to safety requirements for handling non-hazardous and hazardous medications in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements
• Proficient with math calculations associated with assigned responsibilities
• Ability to distinguish routine functions from those requiring a pharmacist's professional judgment
• Ability to work with sustained attention and care on routine, repetitive tasks
• Knowledge and ability to handle controlled substances in accordance with state regulations
• Multi task and prioritize tasks under time constraints. Organize and maintain efficient work areas
• Command of area-specific technology, including, but not limited to , robotics, automation, software, equipment, and information systems
