Position Summary:

The Clinical Crisis Lead is a regional-based, itinerant clinician who provides immediate, short-term clinical intervention and consultation to schools experiencing acute student behavioral, emotional, or mental health crises. This role ensures that crisis response is clinically sound, trauma-informed, and aligned with best practices in school-based mental health.

The position supports schools by providing direct clinical assessment, stabilization planning, consultation, and coordination with community providers while helping school teams strengthen their capacity to support students within the least restrictive environment.

This position provides episodic intervention and does not replace ongoing school-based social work services or maintain a permanent student caseload.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to school-based crises and lead clinical decision-making in real time
• Conduct risk assessments (e.g., suicide, self-harm, threat assessment) and assist school teams in determining appropriate levels of intervention.
• Guide de-escalation and co-regulation strategies during acute incidents
• Determine need for higher levels of care (e.g., Mobile Crisis Intervention, hospitalization)
• Support re-entry planning following crisis events or hospitalization
• Consult with school teams on IEPs, FBAs, and behavior support plans
• Provide coaching to staff on trauma-informed and relationship-based practices

Qualifications:

• Master’s or advanced degree in School Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, or Counseling
• Licensure required (e.g., School Psychologist, Massachusetts Board of Registration of Social Workers LICSW, or LMHC)
• Experience conducting risk assessments and crisis intervention in school or clinical settings
• Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care and adolescent development

The start and end times of BPS schools vary, as do the lengths of the school day. Some BPS schools have a longer school day through the "Schedule A" Expanded Learning Time (ELT) agreement.
