Under the direction of the Supervisor of Research Oncology Informatics, the Research Oncology Informatics Pharmacist plays a critical role in supporting the successful implementation of investigational therapies within Epic. This position partners closely with Principal Investigators, Research Nurses, Research Assistants, and other Cancer Clinical Trials Office staff to design, build, and maintain investigational medication records in Willow and treatment plans in Beacon.

The pharmacist provides oversight of adult research chemotherapy treatment plans, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. Through close collaboration with Hematology/Oncology investigators and research teams, this role helps ensure timely review, approval, and ongoing management of investigational treatment plans, supporting high-quality clinical research and patient care.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Practices following the laws, rules, and regulations of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy, Department of Public Health, the Food and Drug Administration, Drug Enforcement Administration, BIDMC Committee on Clinical Investigations (CCI) and all Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) policies and procedures.
2. Maintains certification and credentials per the Board of Registration and ensures the protection of rights and welfare of human subjects participating in clinical research conducted at BIDMC.
3. Partners with RRNs and PIs to review, approve, and educate staff on new adult research chemotherapy treatment plans in Epic. Develops and maintains treatment plans in collaboration with Epic analysts and provides real-time support for Research Willow and Beacon build activities.
4. Coordinates the development, maintenance, and support of Epic research treatment plans. Conducts quality assurance and data analysis to ensure research treatment plan accuracy and effectiveness. Maintains comprehensive documentation of all research treatment plan creation, updates, and modifications throughout the plan lifecycle.
5. Operates within the Cancer Clinical Trials Office (CCTO) to facilitate communication and troubleshoot issues between study teams, sponsors, research pharmacists, and other DF/HCC institutions to ensure appropriate management of investigational agents.
6. Thoroughly reviews protocols and related documents to ensure appropriate study conduct. Reviews incoming protocols to identify potential issues before consideration by the Scientific Review Committee (SRC) and Institutional Review Board (IRB).7. Extracts protocol requirements to build Willow and Beacon ordering and dispensing templates. Reviews protocol amendments and implements medication-related updates. Contributes to the review of pharmacy-related protocol deviations and violations.
8. Collaborates with multidisciplinary groups to design and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance investigational study conduct throughout the office and institution.
