Overview

Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Nuclear Medicine specialty, Boston, Massachusetts. Start date 09/28/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay range $2,865-$2,922. Guaranteed hours: 40 per week. Shift: 8 hours, daytime, Monday–Friday. Travel assignment in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities
  • Perform molecular/nuclear imaging procedures (SPECT/CT, PET, and related modalities) following established protocols and quality standards
  • Prepare radiopharmaceuticals, perform patient preparation, and ensure proper dose administration with strict adherence to safety and ALARA principles
  • Operate imaging equipment, acquire and process images, and collaborate with interpreting clinicians to optimize image quality
  • Verify patient identity, explain procedures, obtain consent when needed, monitor for adverse reactions, and provide patient comfort and education
  • Maintain documentation in applicable systems (NMIS/RIS/HIS) and participate in routine quality assurance and equipment calibration activities
  • Adhere to radiation safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements; communicate effectively with patients and team members
Requirements
  • Education:

    Bachelor of Science in a scientific field with a certificate in Nuclear Medicine Technology from an accredited program, or an associate degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology from an accredited program plus 2 years of experience by date of hire
  • Licenses/Certifications:

    Must be certified upon hire (or within the first year) and remain current in: NMTCB or ARRT(NM) registration; at least one additional certification: NMTCB(PET), NMTCB(NCT), ARRT(CT), or ARRT(MR). Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License. Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR
  • Experience:

    Experience in Molecular/Nuclear Imaging preferred (SPECT/CT/PET/MR/Optical fusion Imaging)
  • Skills:

    Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and medical terminology; familiarity with Nuclear Medicine Information System (NMIS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and Hospital Information Systems (HIS); strong communication and patient-interaction skills
  • Environment:
    Ability to work in a hospital setting with daytime, 8-hour shifts; ability to comply with safety and regulatory standards
