- Evaluate patients and determine referral appropriateness, etiology, and extent of communication, swallowing, or voice disorders
- Conduct video fluoroscopic oropharyngeal swallowing evaluations, FEES, and/or video stroboscopic voice evaluations
- Interpret evaluation results and make recommendations for management and treatment
- Develop goals and therapeutic programs; establish diagnosis and prognosis and discuss plans of care
- Provide therapy using therapeutic procedures, equipment/devices, and teaching interventions
- Collaborate with patients, families, supports, medical teams, and additional healthcare providers
- Re-evaluate patient status and modify plans of care as needed
- Manage a defined caseload and complete administrative duties, billing, record keeping, quality assurance/improvement activities, committees, meetings, in-services, journal clubs, and case conferences
- Teach patients, families, residents, nurses, and hospital staff
- Provide clinical instruction to graduate students and orient support staff
- Prepare and present clinical in-services and interdepartmental/external educational lectures
- Act as a clinical resource to new staff or students in one content area
- Master's degree in Communication Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology required
- Speech Language Pathologist license required
- Certificate of Clinical Competence - SLP required, verified through www.
Asha.org - Basic Life Support certification required
- 1-3 years related work experience required
- Candidates with an accepted application for licensure and out-of-state licensed speech-language pathologists must obtain a Massachusetts license before the start date
- Advanced skills with Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access, and other web-based applications
- Written and oral communication in English
- Ability to provide care to middle-age and elderly patients
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently; standing and/or moving for most of the shift
- Clinical Fellows are not considered
- Previous acute care experience, including ventilator and/or tracheotomy tube patients preferred
- Previous outpatient voice clinic experience, including trans-nasal endoscopy preferred
Demonstrates expertise in evaluating and treating communication, swallowing, and voice disorders, with a strong focus on patient management, therapeutic program development, and collaboration with healthcare teams. Proficient in utilizing advanced Microsoft applications and providing clinical instruction to students and staff.
