Job Summary $750.00 sign on bonus is being offered to eligible new MGB employees hired in our PCA position. Schedule Day (7am-7pm) and Night (7pm-7am) Rotating weekend coverage Scheduled holidays White 8 is in search of a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Patient Care Assistant I (PCA). This individual must be able to provide Day and Night schedule, and coverage on rotating weekends and holidays.
White 8 is a 27-bed adult general medicine inpatient unit, located in Boston, MA. The unit serves patients from culturally diverse backgrounds and geographic areas that present with acute and complex medical problems. Patients are generally admitted to our unit from the Emergency Department or as a transfer from one of the intensive care units.

SummaryWorking under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
Essential Functions- Performs patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including, but not limited to, performing and documenting point of care, vital signs, EKGs, bathing and other sanitary needs of patients, transferring and assisting with ambulation of patients, 1:1 patient observation for safety purposes, and phlebotomy.
- Assist RNs and physicians with other exams and treatments as required.
- Completes all documentation such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Assists patients with food tray setup, eating, and feeding, as needed.
- Ensures that patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately, as needs indicate and as patient volumes change.
- Retrieves equipment from other areas, sets up equipment, cleans equipment between patient use, and reports malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy.
- Assists with admitting and discharging patients.
- Facilitates orientation of new PCA team members as directed.
- Interacts with patients, visitors, and other care team members effectively.
- Communicates with nursing staff effectively and in a timely manner regarding issues related to patient care and condition.
- Fosters a positive, collaborative team environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.
