St. Joseph Rehabilitation and Nursing Center has a great opportunity available for a strong and experienced Respiratory Therapist (RT) We are a Joint Commission Accredited, American Healthcare Association Bronze Medal Award-winning, short-term rehab, long term, and skilled nursing care community. We are conveniently located in Dorchester/Boston, MA.
This is a great, 24-hour per week opportunity.
Qualifications of the Respiratory Therapist (RT)- Applicants must have a current and valid license as a Respiratory Therapist issued by the Massachusetts Board of Respiratory Care
- Needs to have working knowledge of computers. Experience with Point Click Care (PCC) is a plus.
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
Responsibilities Include:
- The Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory therapy to long term care residents with abnormalities and deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system according to physician prescription.
- Operate and set up equipment to ensure specified parameters of treatment such as volume, oxygen concentration, and/or temperature, nebulizers, and/or compressors.
- Monitor patient response to therapy via vital signs. Consult with physician in event of adverse reaction.
- Inspect and test respiratory therapy equipment to ensure it is functioning safely and efficiently. Order repairs when needed.
- Perform staff and patient education. Demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees.
- Review prescription and patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment. Determine suitable treatment administration and modifications that may be needed, compatible with physician orders.
- Maintain accurate prescribed patient records and documentation.
- In collaboration with the healthcare team, develops and implements an appropriate care plan based on patient assessment by utilizing standards of care to optimize patient outcomes.
- Work efficiently as a team member both within and across clinical settings to provide quality service through communication, cooperation, and collaboration.
- Demonstrates competence, including knowledge and behaviors, to meet age specific patient needs in a specialty area.
