Overview

Scope of Position

The Bartender position at Tamo mixes and serves alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages for bar guests and Restaurant, Lounge and Terrace Servers. This role sells and services food to guests according to company standards while contributing to our service goals. The position is highly interactive and contributes to the overall perception of hotel quality and attention to detail. Maintain a relaxed, casual, and attentive atmosphere to exceed guest expectations.

Reports to the Food and Beverage Management Team.

Schedule Requirements

The position includes morning and afternoon/evening shifts with regular weekend attendance. Holidays are scheduled as business requires. Flexibility is required to meet business needs, and participation in all-hands events may be necessary. The hotel operates 24/7, including holidays. The company supports work‑life balance.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Greet all guests on arrival in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Organize the bar to provide beverage service to guests and staff.
  • Ensure proper set‑up and closing of the bar following opening and closing side‑work procedures per management guidance.
  • Maintain standards of service and product costs as directed.
  • Provide table service for food and beverages in lounge and bar.
  • Rotate products and manage inventory to ensure freshness.
  • Coordinate food orders with the kitchen.
  • Use proper cash handling procedures.
  • Arrange glasses and bottles to create an attractive display.
  • Demonstrate drink recipe knowledge and accuracy in ringing procedures.
  • Proficient in drink preparation with speed.
  • Daily bar inventories align with bar and cash register totals.
  • Maintain proper safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Support other outlets within the department as needed.
  • Represent the hotel with a positive attitude and professional attire.
  • Follow sustainability guidelines related to Seaport’s programs.
  • Carry out other duties within the broad scope of this job description as commensurate with the role.
  • Promote our Mission and Values as an integral part of daily operations.
Qualifications

Required Job Knowledge and Skills

  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Mobility on feet for the entire shift.
  • iPod Touches and/or radios are used during shifts.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions (pulling, pushing, bending) for extended periods, e.g., moving full laundry buggies, cleaning baseboards.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and in a group setting.
  • Food and beverage knowledge.
  • Computer skills – Micros;
    Cash handling skills.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to recognize and acknowledge regular guests.
  • Commitment to delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently.
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with hotel standards.

Qualifications (Additional)

Experience:

  • Hospitality experience preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and backgrounds preferred.

Education:

  • High School diploma, General Education Degree or international equivalent preferred.

Language

Skills:

  • Fluency in English strongly preferred.
  • Ability to understand and compose instructions, memos, and short correspondence.
