Job Opening:
The Executive Office of Veterans Services is seeking a new Benefits & Leaves Coordinator to join their Human Resouces team!
The Benefits & Leaves Coordinator will assist in providing services to the Agency & Secretariat by delivering exceptional customer service to staff and external parties regarding employee benefits and leave programs associated with state employees in a professional, team-oriented manner.
Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Employee Benefits:
* Support biweekly New Employee Orientation and new employee follow-up
* Process new hire benefits related forms
* Available to employees for general inquiries regarding benefits
* Support open enrollment including but not limited to onsite visits to all locations
* Administer commuter benefits
* Administer SMART plan
Leaves Administration:
* Administer/data entry leaves of absence for all staff
* Partner with OLPA for tracking leaves progress
* Timesheet data entry
* Processes PFML
* Processes EILB requests
* Field related employee questions, connect with OLPA as needed
Workers Compensation:
* Tracks employee absence due to work-related injuries
* Data entry into eServices
* Partner with Occupational Health teams at Homes for document collection
Qualifications Required at Hire:
* Knowledge of the Federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) rules, regulations, and processes.
* Strong consultative and presentation skills to ensure high-quality customer service.
* Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in handling confidential matters and understanding of employees' changing needs and situations.
* Ability to work independently, receive and prioritize other work assignments based on dates of qualifying events to ensure timely processing.
* Organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously
* Commitment to equal opportunity in the workplace
Preferred Qualifications:
* Professional experience working in HR/CMS including benefits administration, specifically working knowledge
* Ability to use technology to improve workflow processes and automate daily tasks
* Ability to explain complex information in a simple manner
* Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
* Knowledge of state government and interrelationships between agencies
* Experience working in a union environment
Additional Details:
Valid driver's license and/or a means of travel to regional offices within the state of Massachusetts to conduct orientations and presentations as needed ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral expression to convey information.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the-required experience.
