A well-established, mission-driven nonprofit organization in Boston is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join its team. This is a great opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys wearing multiple hats and supporting employees throughout the full employee lifecycle.
The HR Generalist will have a broad scope of responsibility across talent acquisition, onboarding and offboarding, employee leaves and accommodations, HR operations, compliance, employee experience, HRIS administration, and payroll support
.
Talent Acquisition, Onboarding & Offboarding
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for assigned openings and internships.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand role requirements, competencies, and selection criteria.
- Manage job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interview coordination, and offer processes.
- Lead and continuously improve the employee onboarding experience.
- Manage relationships with staffing agencies, Linked In Recruiter, and external posting sources.
Leave, Accommodations & Compliance
- Manage employee leaves of absence, including PFML, FMLA, and ADA-related leaves.
- Consult with employees regarding leave processes and requirements.
- Manage leave documentation, tracking, and payroll coordination.
- Review HR policies and practices to support ongoing legal compliance.
- Recommend policy and process updates as needed.
HR Operations & Employee Experience
- Serve as a resource to employees and managers regarding HR policies, benefits, and processes.
- Support employees with online HR resources and HR-related questions.
- Facilitate bi-annual core value awards and annual milestone awards.
- Conduct 30-day new-hire check-ins to support engagement, onboarding effectiveness, and retention.
- Review and approve HR actions through the HRIS.
- Partner with Finance on bi-weekly payroll preparation.
- Enter payroll changes, including leave-of-absence schedules, and follow up on timesheet submissions.
- Mission-driven HR professional who is passionate about working for a purpose-driven organization.
- Hands-on experience managing employee leaves and accommodations
, including PFML, FMLA, or ADA-related matters. - Strong UKG experience is highly preferred.
- Full-cycle recruiting and talent acquisition experience.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable handling confidential employee information and sensitive employee matters.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across HR, Finance, and other departments.
