Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are looking for a Career Navigator & Employer Partnerships Specialist who genuinely enjoys helping people move forward.

This person will be there for participants from their first conversation with us through training, job search, placement, and the first several months of employment.

At the same time, you will build relationships with employers and hiring managers who are looking for great talent.

The role is approximately half career navigation and case management and half employer engagement, job development, and program support.

We intentionally want our Career Navigator to have enough time to know the people they are supporting. This should not feel like managing names on a spreadsheet. You should understand each participant's goals, challenges, strengths, and next step.

If you have worked in workforce development and wished you had more time with participants and stronger connections to employers, we would especially love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do Career Navigation and Participant Support
  • Welcome participants into Skills Clinic and conduct intake and eligibility conversations.
  • Work with each participant to create an individualized career plan based on their goals, skills, experience, and circumstances.
  • Check in regularly throughout the program, monitor progress, and reach out early when someone may need additional support.
  • Coach participants on résumés, Linked In and work
2.org profiles, interviews, salary conversations, job search strategies, and workplace expectations.
  • Help participants navigate barriers such as childcare, transportation, housing, food access, or immigration-related needs by connecting them with trusted community resources.
  • Stay connected after placement through 30, 90, and 180-day check-ins to support job retention and continued career progress.
Employer Partnerships and Job Development
  • Build meaningful relationships with Boston-area employers, recruiters, and hiring managers.
  • Identify employers open to skills-first hiring, particularly for technology, healthcare, project coordination, operations, and customer-facing roles.
  • Understand what employers are actually looking for and connect them directly with qualified participants.
  • Help organize virtual and in-person career events, including employer panels, mock interviews, talent showcases, and hiring events.
  • Track employer relationships, referrals, and outcomes so we can continuously improve our programs.
  • Represent NWLB with workforce and community partners across Greater Boston.
Program Data and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate participant records, including enrollment, milestones, placements, and retention outcomes.
  • Help ensure documentation meets program and funder requirements.
  • Contribute to quarterly reports, participant success stories, and continuous program improvement.
Who We’re Looking For

You may be a strong fit if you have:

  • 2+ years of experience in career coaching, career counseling, case management, employment services, recruiting, job development, or a related field.
  • Experience developing relationships with employers, recruiters, community organizations, or workforce partners.
  • Experience supporting immigrants, English language learners, veterans, caregivers, career changers, or adults facing barriers to employment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage participant relationships, employer relationships, and deadlines at the same time.
  • Comfort using technology, including CRMs, spreadsheets, learning platforms, video tools, and emerging AI tools.
  • The ability to travel within Boston for programs, employer meetings, and community events.
  • Flexibility to work some Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings while cohorts are running, with flexibility in your weekday schedule.
