IT Cloud Architect
As an IT Cloud Architect, you will act as a senior technical authority driving the design, deployment, and oversight of scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud environments that support business goals. You’ll partner across teams to shape cloud architecture, lead migration efforts, and uphold strong standards for security, governance, and operational excellence. Success in this role requires delivering reliable, thoughtful support while continuously improving the end-user experience through professional and service-focused engagement.
The company is located in Wakefield, MA and is 5 days onsite to start/train, then will transition to a hybrid model of 3 days onsite.
What You Will Be Doing- Design and implement scalable cloud architectures aligned with business and technical objectives, using Microsoft Azure (preferred), AWS, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Lead end-to-end cloud migration initiatives, including discovery, planning, execution, and post-migration optimization.
- Establish and maintain cloud security frameworks, standards, and procedures to safeguard organizational systems and data.
- Partner with IT, Dev Ops, and engineering teams to ensure smooth integration, deployment, and operation of cloud services.
- Continuously monitor cloud environments, assess risk, and drive improvements in performance, reliability, and cost management.
- Serve as a technical leader, providing guidance and mentorship to junior architects and technical staff.
- Research emerging cloud technologies and best practices to support innovation and long-term strategy.
- Produce and maintain detailed documentation for cloud architectures, processes, and compliance requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
- 8 years of IT architecture experience, with significant focus on cloud solutions.
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform).
- Strong knowledge of cloud networking, security, virtualization, and storage design.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Cloud Formation, or ARM templates.
- Working knowledge of Dev Ops principles and CI/CD pipelines.
- Relevant certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Architect) strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage priorities independently in fast-changing environments.
- Experience with project delivery methodologies such as Agile and Dev Ops.
- Flexibility to support occasional after-hours work and travel as needed.
- Solid understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft Azure environments.
- Familiarity with security control frameworks such as NIST 800-171, CMMC, SOC 2, or similar.
