Data Engineer, Cloud Computing
Our client is seeking a full-time Senior Data Architect to help design and scale a modern cloud data platform supporting a growing portfolio of consumer-focused pet health and protection brands across North America. This role centers on building and optimizing a cloud-based Lakehouse environment using Azure Databricks, Spark, and broader Azure data services, partnering closely with product and engineering leadership.
This is a highly impactful, hands‑on architecture position ideal for someone who thrives in both strategic design and implementation. The team is investing heavily in building a scalable, event‑driven data foundation that supports operational workflows, analytics, and advanced modeling use cases.
This is a hybrid role in Boston.
Required Skills & Experience- 10+ years of experience in data architecture and large‑scale data modeling
- Strong hands‑on expertise with Databricks and distributed processing frameworks such as Spark
- Experience implementing scalable Lakehouse or modern warehouse architectures
- Deep understanding of Delta‑based storage patterns and layered data design
- Experience building configurable ELT/ETL pipelines with support for CDC and streaming ingestion
- Proficiency in relational and non‑relational databases
- Strong background in schema design and performance tuning
- Experience working with semi‑structured and columnar file formats (JSON, Parquet, ORC)
- Experience integrating event‑driven systems using Azure messaging and serverless components
- CI/CD automation experience within cloud environments
- Knowledge of data governance, lineage tracking, and cloud security controls
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- Exposure to machine learning workflows within a cloud data platform
- Experience mentoring engineers and performing architectural reviews
- Experience establishing data standards and governance frameworks
- Strong collaboration skills within Agile product and engineering teams
- Broader familiarity with Azure‑native data tooling

- Architect and implement scalable data platform solutions in Azure

- Build and integrate batch and streaming data pipelines

- Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and design discussions
- Conduct code reviews and mentor data engineers
- Continuously evaluate and improve tooling, automation, and deployment processes
