Position: IS Transition Project Manager

This project leadership role provides specialized project management expertise to support complex IT transition initiatives across the institute. The position focuses on managing medium to large IT transition efforts, representing the Technology, Data, and Analytics Team through consistent use of its methodologies, tools, and governance processes, and supporting DFCI staff in transition-focused project management best practices through coaching, mentoring, and training.

These skills are leveraged to drive the use and continuous improvement of standards across DFCI, including project charters, integrated transition plans, cutover and go‑live execution plans, system deliverables, and related processes. This role assists teams in project and transition design, supports periodic review and auditing throughout the project lifecycle, and guides projects in process content, application of tools, and knowledge management, with particular emphasis on safe and effective transitions identified for our new collaboration.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Scope and Complexity:
    Lead complex projects with budgets up to $500K, managing high‑priority tasks and cross‑functional teams for significant organizational impact.
  • Strategic Decision Making and Planning:
    Exercise authority in planning, execution, and resource management, collaborating with leadership to translate strategic initiatives into detailed project plans focused on achieving strategic outcomes.
  • Analysis:
    Translate business processes into technical solutions, leading analysts in requirement gathering and traceability.
  • Stakeholder Interaction and Communication:
    Engage with senior leadership and external partners to align objectives with organizational goals.
  • Project Leadership:
    Direct project teams, fostering excellence and continuous improvement.

    Risk Management:

    Implement quality assurance best practices and strategies for process optimization while expertly identifying, analyzing, and managing risks to ensure project success.
  • Vendor Management:
    Lead vendor selection and implementation for medium to large projects.
  • Mentorship and Development:
    Mentor project teams, promoting professional growth and a culture of excellence.

  • Skilled in written and verbal communications with staff and management who have varying levels of technical aptitude, bridging the gap between business constituents and technical IT resources, and influencing decisions.

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field required.
