Position Overview

A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect to establish and lead enterprise-wide technology governance and architecture strategy. This role will partner closely with executive leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure technology initiatives align with organizational strategy, regulatory requirements, and healthcare industry best practices.

The Principal Enterprise Architect will play a key role in guiding the transition from legacy, siloed systems toward a modern, integrated, patient‑centric digital ecosystem. This includes defining governance frameworks, modernizing infrastructure and applications, and ensuring technology investments support long‑term operational scalability and innovation.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Alignment
  • Partner with executive leadership including the CIO, infrastructure leadership, and clinical operations teams to align enterprise technology roadmaps across infrastructure, clinical systems, and business platforms.
  • Translate business objectives into scalable architecture strategies and technology governance frameworks.
Governance & Policy Framework
  • Establish and lead an IT Governance Committee and architecture review processes.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise‑wide IT policies, standards, and procedures covering areas such as integration development, security, access management, data governance, and system lifecycle management.
  • Define governance cycles such as Architecture Review Boards and annual portfolio reviews to ensure architectural decisions are documented, auditable, and transparent.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure policies align with external standards (SOC, ISO, GDPR, SOX, etc.).
Modernization Initiatives
  • Develop phased roadmaps to reduce technical debt and retire legacy systems or fragmented platforms that pose operational risk.
  • Provide architectural oversight for enterprise technology initiatives including clinical platforms, patient engagement tools, device integrations, mobile technologies, and telehealth solutions.
  • Partner with procurement, IT, and business stakeholders to evaluate technology investments through vendor demonstrations, RFIs, and RFP processes.
  • Provide architectural guidance on enterprise platform selection and integration strategy.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with business leaders, IT teams, and external partners to ensure enterprise architecture initiatives support organizational strategy and operational goals.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to both technical and business stakeholders.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Monitor adherence to internal policies, regulatory frameworks, and security standards.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with enterprise technology architecture.
Performance Measurement
  • Define and track KPIs to evaluate architecture governance effectiveness and organizational architecture maturity.
Documentation & Communication
  • Produce clear documentation for architecture standards, governance processes, and architectural decisions.
  • Communicate governance policies and standards to technical teams and leadership stakeholders.
Change Management & Enablement
  • Guide organizational adoption of governance practices and architectural standards.
  • Provide training and guidance to IT and business teams to promote architectural best practices and compliance.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and update architecture standards accordingly.
  • Align architecture initiatives with organizational goals including operational efficiency, scalability, innovation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Continuously assess architecture maturity and optimize technology environments through structured lifecycle processes.
Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, IT governance, or infrastructure architecture.
