Position: Cabling and POS Technician - OvationCXM

CXM - Cabling and POS Technician

Location:

Boston, Massachusetts, United States. This is an ongoing part‑time contract position that supports locally owned businesses with their in‑store technology, including installation and troubleshooting of point‑of‑sale devices and networked wireless printers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Installing new point‑of‑sale devices and low‑voltage cabling for POS systems.
  • Diagnosing and resolving network and device issues.
  • Maintaining high customer satisfaction ratings.
  • Managing own schedule and business practices to maximize income.

Qualifications:

  • Must have daytime, weekday availability.
  • 2 years of field experience, valid state‑issued driver’s license and insurance.
  • Reliable transportation stocked with low‑voltage supplies (basic field tech hand tools, Cat5 cable, cable tester, punch‑down tool, ladder, etc.).
  • Android or iPhone mobile device (phone/tablet with 4G) and laptop computer.
  • Experience with installing, troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing low‑voltage cabling for Point‑of‑Sale systems and networked wireless printers.
  • Knowledge of hard‑wired and wireless devices: routers, switches, firewalls, access points.
  • Excellent communication skills for responding to customers’ questions, problems, and requests, and the ability to translate technology issues into layman terms.
  • Kind, polite attitude with a willingness to "go the extra mile".
  • Most importantly: love making customers happy.

Bonus points:

  • Military veteran with networking background.
  • CCNA, CCNP, Network+ or other networking certifications.

Pay ranges by location:

  • Denver, Colorado: $40–$65 per hour
  • Salt Lake City, Utah: $40–$65 per hour
  • Boston, Massachusetts: $50–$75 per hour
  • Dallas, TX: $40–$65 per hour
