AI Engineer, Artificial Intelligence
Head of AI / Principal AI Research Scientist
Location:
Boston or San Francisco
We are partnering with a well‑funded, venture‑backed neurotechnology company building one of the most ambitious AI platforms in the market today: a foundation model designed to learn directly from large‑scale, real‑world brain and behavioral data.
This is a rare opportunity to become the first senior AI leader and architect a next‑generation “world model” that treats neural activity as a high‑dimensional language, with applications spanning predictive health, cognitive computing, and human‑AI integration.
What You’ll Do- Design and train a large‑scale foundation model from the ground up
- Build the end‑to‑end AI stack, including data pipelines, training infrastructure, and deployment systems
- Apply advanced techniques including Transformers, VQ‑VAE, self‑supervised learning, and world models
- Lead the technical roadmap and hire the AI research and engineering team
- Work closely with executive leadership and investors to define a category‑defining platform
- Proven experience building large models from scratch (not just fine‑tuning)
- Deep expertise in LLMs, generative modeling, sequence modeling, and representation learning
- Experience with world models, multimodal AI, or temporal systems
- Strong technical leadership and a track record of hiring and mentoring teams
- Credibility from top‑tier AI labs, research organizations, or recognized startups
- EEG, computational neuroscience, or biosignal modeling
- Distributed training with PyTorch, Deep Speed, or FSDP
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, or related field
This role is ideal for someone who wants to build a transformational AI platform from first principles and establish a world‑class research organization.
