NEIDL IT SYSTEMS SPECIALIST, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Lab

Full‑Time/Regular.
Boston University's National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories seeks a technology professional to support research and operations. The IT Systems Specialist primarily provides direct client support, configures systems, recommends solutions, educates users, and maintains Windows and Mac computers.
Responsibilities- Provide direct client support for IT requests and issues.
- Configure Windows and Mac systems, including installation, upgrades, and maintenance.
- Recommend technical solutions and educate users on available tools.
- Implement and troubleshoot Windows and Mac hardware, software, OS, and network connectivity.
- Administer remote assistance, asset management, deployment, and mobile device management tools.
- Apply wired and wireless networking principles (TCP/IP, application protocols).
- Contribute to special technology projects supporting the NEIDL’s research.
- Deep familiarity with Windows and MacOS operating system use and management.
- Experience installing, configuring, and upgrading Windows and Mac systems.
- Proven troubleshooting hardware, software, OS, and network issues.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Active Directory.
- Experience with enterprise support tools such as remote assistance, asset management, deployment, patching, virus protection, and encryption.
- Knowledge of wired and wireless networking principles, TCP/IP, and application protocols.
- Client‑facing IT experience with excellent customer service and a service‑oriented approach.
- US citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) status for DOJ Security Risk Assessment approval.
- Successful completion of criminal background check, basic background check (SSN, academic credentials, past employment, licenses and credentials, SORI check, credit history), medical clearance, and training.
- For IT system support roles, optional Department of Justice Criminal Background Check and Fingerprinting, and Select Agent Use Approval as required by CDC, BPHC, and IBC.
- Ongoing periodic background reviews, regulatory compliance, and clearance maintenance required for NEIDL access.
