Senior Manager Data Engineer Job Boston area,Massachusetts USA,IT/Tech

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Manager Data Engineer to join the team of our exceptional client, an investment management firm
. This role focuses on designing and building modern data platforms, enabling scalable data processing, and supporting enterprise analytics initiatives.

This position requires strong hands-on experience with modern data engineering tools and cloud platforms, along with expertise in data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and distributed data processing. The ideal candidate brings both technical leadership and deep engineering capabilities within a financial services environment.

What will your day look like?

Design, develop, and maintain modern data platforms leveraging cloud-based tools and architectures
Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for large-scale data processing
Engineer data solutions using Python and Py Spark for transformation and analytics workloads
Develop and manage data ingestion pipelines using Azure Data Factory and API-based integrations
Work with various data storage formats including CSV, JSON, and Parquet
Design and implement data models and scalable architectures, including medallion (layered) architecture
Build solutions across data warehouses and lakehouse environments
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support analytics, reporting, and compliance use cases
Ensure data quality, integrity, and performance optimization across data platforms
Support cloud data platform engineering and ongoing operational needs

You will be a good fit for this role if you have:

Strong experience (2–5+ recent years) building modern data platforms
Hands‑on expertise with Microsoft Fabric (strongly preferred) or similar platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake
Proficiency in Python and Py Spark for large-scale data processing
Experience with SQL
, data modeling, and data architecture best practices
Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
Hands‑on experience with Azure
, including Azure Data Factory and cloud-based data services
Experience implementing API-based data ingestion
Solid understanding of data lake, lakehouse, and warehouse architectures
Familiarity with modern data formats (CSV, JSON, Parquet)
Experience designing scalable data models and transformation pipelines

Nice-to-Haves

Experience working in financial services or asset management
Knowledge of investment compliance data and workflows
Experience with medallion architecture patterns
Exposure to cloud data platform optimization and performance tuning
