Overview
The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for protecting Focus’ computer systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. This role involves developing and implementing security measures, monitoring systems, and responding to security incidents. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background, excellent problem‑solving skills, and a thorough understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
Location and Work ArrangementThis is a hybrid role in either St. Louis, MO, New York (Manhattan), NY or Boston, MA. Ideally, this will require 3 days per week onsite. For the right person, this role has the potential to be remote with travel.
Key Responsibilities- The Senior Security Engineer is principally responsible for deploying and managing information security solutions and controls across the enterprise in a way that is transparent to end users, supports executive strategies, and fundamentally ensures the security of the information Focus is entrusted to protect.
- Partners with MSSP and Incident Response teams to address security incidents and potential threats.
- Monitors logs, alerts, and reports to detect and mitigate potential security breaches.
- Partner with IT infrastructure team when needed to provide enterprise‑wide tier III troubleshooting of network, desktop, server (hardware & software) and application performance & connectivity as it relates to Information Security.
- Creates and maintains security standards, operational runbooks and processes.
- Drive and implement key security strategies within the Focus Financial Partners firms designed to protect disparate environments worldwide from threats.
- Partner with and provide information security expertise to the Focus Financial Partners firms.
- Work closely with other IT departments to ensure security policies are integrated into all aspects of technology development and deployment.
- Keep abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to continuously improve the organization's security posture.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- At least 5‑7 years of experience in cybersecurity roles, with a proven track record of managing solutions and responding to security incidents.
- Extensive experience deploying, securing, and managing environments, specifically with solutions related to SASE, identity management, firewalls, IDS/IPS, email protection, EDR, and leveraging MSSPs.
- Experience securing cloud environments such as AWS and Azure.
- Experience with API Gateways and other common web application technologies is preferred.
- Experience with assessment, development, implementation, integration, optimization, and documentation of a comprehensive and broad set of security technologies and processes.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise security concepts/frameworks and products, secure design principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with top security frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27000 series, COBIT, etc.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH are highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
This position is exempt. The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $140,000–$160,000. Actual base pay may vary based on experience, geographic location, and skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k).
