Data Analyst, Business Systems/ Tech Analyst
About the Role
You will be the person who makes that happen. Working directly with customers, you will lead the implementation inside Pliable, bringing raw data in from siloed systems and modeling it into a single source of truth for their business. Every engagement is different: the industry changes, the data sources changes, the business questions changes. What stays the same is the platform and the process.
Outcomes first, data second, build third, validate until it is right.
The most important part is the discovery and planning up front: understanding the business, mapping the data, and designing the model that gets to the outcomes the customer is after. That is the part software cannot do on its own, which is why this role needs someone data‑savvy to lead it.
What You’ll Do- Start every engagement by getting deep on the business: what decisions need to be made, what data supports them, and what good looks like before anything is built
- Lead discovery using Pliable’s agentic process. The agents do the heavy lifting, but you’re the one asking the sharper questions, catching what they miss, and translating fuzzy business needs into a clear data plan
- Drive the implementation inside Pliable: let the agents connect raw, siloed data across any combination of source systems, and bring the expertise to guide, correct, and shape it into a structured, trusted foundation
- Define the semantic layer (metrics, entities, and business logic) so data means something consistent across the organization; the agents propose, you decide what’s actually right
- Own validation: work alongside the agents going layer by layer, source by source, use case by use case, applying the judgment to know when an output truly matches reality and the customer can believe what they’re looking at
- Stay close post go‑live; real use surfaces things controlled validation does not, and iteration after launch is part of the job
- Own the customer relationship end to end, from first discovery call through steady state
- Strong SQL and data modeling fundamentals; you understand how business data is structured across real‑world systems and how to make it coherent
- Proven ability to design semantic layers or BI data models: metrics, grain, hierarchies, calculated fields, business logic
- The instinct to look at raw data from multiple sources and immediately start forming a model: what the entities are, how they relate, what the grain should be
- Familiarity with the systems businesses actually run on: ERP platforms (Net Suite, Dynamics 365, Epicor), CRM (Salesforce, Hub Spot), POS systems, marketing and advertising platforms, and financial tools like Quick Books; you do not need to know all of them but you should be comfortable learning any of them quickly
- Comfort with AI‑native and agentic workflows
- 3+ years in implementation, solutions consulting, or a technical customer‑facing role. Specific experience with BI/data is preferred
- Skilled at getting the right information out of business stakeholders who may not speak in data terms
- Clear communicator with both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Comfortable owning a customer relationship independently from kickoff through steady state
- Sees a problem and moves toward it; oriented around finding the solution, not defining the constraint
- Takes validation seriously; you do not ship until you are confident the numbers are right
- Comfortable with a model that is never truly finished; you iterate in production as readily as in build
- Curious by nature about data and about how businesses actually work
- AI‑forward: uses AI tools actively and understands that good data modeling is what makes AI analytics trustworthy
- Early‑stage or startup experience strongly preferred
This is a full‑time, direct‑hire role open to candidates authorized to work in the U.S.;
Boston‑area applicants strongly preferred, no agency submissions, please.
