OverviewThe Data Governance Analyst will be an integral member of the Data Governance team, collaborating with data engineers, developers, and product owners responsible for the firm’s enterprise data warehouse, master data management, business intelligence solutions, and firm-wide report development. The Analyst will engage with stakeholders across IT, finance, business, practice development, HR, and internal application owners to enhance data use throughout its lifecycle.
This role focuses on defining and documenting requirements—including quality standards—for sourcing, developing, managing, and consuming the firm’s data assets, and will serve as a critical resource for data stewards and end users.
- Support the Manager of Data Governance by collaborating with data owners and stewards to define key data elements and quality standards, and by providing stakeholders with information needed to make strategic decisions.
- Analyze data and present it in formats that stakeholders can easily understand, ensuring clarity and accessibility for business use.
- Prepare reports that support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Interpret data trends and patterns to inform business direction.
- Drive continuous data quality improvements by investigating challenges and developing sustainable mitigation plans.
- Develop and publish data quality dashboards to promote transparency and confidence among stakeholders.
- Work with data engineers, business intelligence architects, and developers to create system documentation, maintain core data models, and track data lineage.
- Collaborate with engineers and architects to identify areas for improvement and create actionable plans to improve data quality.
- Maintain the report inventory and data dictionary, guiding users to optimal resources.
- Support stakeholder inquiries by identifying, tracking, and resolving issues.
- Perform stewardship tasks for critical enterprise data as needed.
- Conduct quality assurance testing for small projects and enhancements as required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a data analyst role with a focus on data governance, business intelligence, or reporting solutions.
- Understanding of relational databases and master data management practices.
- Strong SQL skills and high proficiency with Excel.
- Strong analytical skills to identify, quantify, and communicate business risks associated with data quality.
- Advanced business analysis and problem‑solving skills for sustainable solutions.
- Strong relationship management skills with internal partners and clients.
- Effective communication and presentation skills for technical and business audiences.
- Experience with Micro Strategy is a plus.
- Experience in legal services and/or finance departments is a plus.
The anticipated pay range for this role is $88,600 - $135,100 in Boston. Eligibility for a discretionary bonus based on performance.
Working ConditionsThis position requires hybrid on‑site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on‑site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development, and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
