About the Role
The Business Data Analyst bridges the gap between raw data infrastructure and strategic decision-making. This role focuses on transforming complex datasets from various business systems into actionable insights that drive revenue growth and operational efficiency. Working within a modern data stack, the position involves partnering with product, finance, and marketing teams to define core KPIs, build automated reporting, and perform deep‑dive exploratory analysis.
The role is critical for ensuring data integrity and providing the analytical narrative behind the company's performance metrics.
- Develop and maintain complex SQL queries and dbt models to transform raw data into clean, analysis‑ready tables in Snowflake or Big Query
- Design, build, and optimize automated dashboards in Tableau, Looker, or Sigma that provide real‑time visibility into business performance
- Perform ad‑hoc deep‑dive analyses to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement across different business units
- Partner with data engineering to define requirements for new data sources and ensure the accuracy of ingested data via rigorous QA processes
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver data‑driven recommendations to non‑technical stakeholders
- Document data definitions, metric logic, and analytical methodology to ensure a single source of truth across the organization
- 3–6 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a similar quantitative role at a high‑growth technology company
- Expert‑level SQL skills with the ability to write complex joins, window functions, and CTEs for large‑scale datasets
- Hands‑on experience with modern BI tools such as Tableau, Looker (LookML), or Sigma Computing
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and experience working with transformation tools like dbt
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering
- Bonus:
Proficiency in Python or R for statistical analysis; experience with Salesforce or Netsuite data schemas; familiarity with version control via Git
