DIGITAL EVIDENCE ANALYST I
CRIMINAL BUREAU
DIGITAL EVIDENCE LABORATORY
Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for a highly motivated individual with a commitment to public service to join the Digital Evidence Laboratory (DEL) within the Criminal Bureau. The DEL is a statewide unit, based in Boston, composed of forensic technicians and support personnel tasked with collecting and analyzing mobile devices, computers, media, and data from networks and third-party providers.
Additionally, DEL personnel lead cyber initiatives across Massachusetts and the country designed to improve law enforcement's ability to collect and analyze digital evidence and investigate the cyber components of criminal activity.
Primary Duties
- Identify and collect digital evidence in the field
- Preserve electronic data from computer systems, mobile devices, computer media and servers in accordance with industry best practices
- Examine digital evidence in support of criminal investigations
- Testify in court as a witness
- Satisfaction of initial competency and annual proficiency reviews
- Comply with DEL policies and industry best practices for forensic examinations of digital evidence.
Position Requirements :
- Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in digital forensics.
- Academic programs that include significant hands-on digital forensic experience, technical experience, and report writing experience may be considered towards the experience requirement.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems, networks, mobile devices, and the digital forensic process.
- Knowledge, training, and experience in the area of criminal investigations is desired.
- Current certifications in the field of digital forensics are desired.
- Proficiency with software applications used in the acquisition and analysis of digital evidence.
- Familiarity with Forensic Explorer, Cellebrite applications, and Magnet Axiom.
- Experience examining mobile devices, preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision making.
- A valid driver's license as travel is required.
Position Type:
Full-Time/Non-Exempt
Salary: $81,296 - $84,937, commensurate with experience
