Spoiler Alert is a CPG and retail tech company on a mission to expand consumer access to affordable, everyday essentials by unlocking the value in surplus inventory. We've powered the sale of over $6 billion of inventory from leading CPG brands like Unilever, Kraft Heinz, and Mondelez into hundreds of value channel retailers and wholesalers - recovering value for brands, reducing waste, and creating savings for consumers.
We're building the marketplace infrastructure to transform CPG surplus into opportunity for retailers to meet consumer demand at scale, and infusing AI-native products into a segment of the CPG supply chain that is ripe for improvement.
We're hiring a Director of Data to make data the indisputable engine of our results and market differentiation. The next chapter of Spoiler Alert is defined by how well we turn our marketplace data into better outcomes for our suppliers and buyers, resulting in platform value and analytics that compounds with every transaction.
This is a hands‑on, cross‑functional leadership role for someone who has done this work before in the CPG‑retail world and built data teams that drive business outcomes. You'll own the customer‑facing analytics that make our platform more valuable, the insights that show us how to make the marketplace more valuable to suppliers and buyers, and the team behind both. You'll partner closely with Product on what we build, Operations on how we advise our customers, and GTM on how we effectively bring our category and aggregated insights to the market.
You will be expected to bring an expert, outside‑in point of view on where CPG and retail data practices are headed. You'll lead a small team of analysts and have the opportunity to grow the team to match the ambition of the role. This role is a member of the Product leadership team and will partner closely with the senior leadership team and Product, Engineering, Operations, and GTM teams.

- Partner across the leadership team using data and AI with Product on what problems to prioritize, Engineering on how to solve them, Operations and Account Management to improve customer outcomes, and GTM to drive revenue
- Contribute to external thought leadership, including the publishing of aggregated insights and category analyses, as well as participation in webinar and speaking opportunities
- Recruit, develop, and lead a team with a culture of ownership, analytical rigor, and business impact, growing team members into partners who influence decisions across the company
- Partner with Engineering and senior leadership to ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility can support how the company and our customers want to use data and AI
