Description

The People eXperience and Technology Central Science Team (PXTCS) uses economics, behavioral science, statistics, and machine learning to proactively identify mechanisms and process improvements that improve Amazon and the lives, wellbeing, and the value of work to Amazonians. The interdisciplinary team merges science and engineering to develop and deliver solutions measurable in impact.

• Work with business partners to refine complex problems into specific scientific questions.
• Estimate models and algorithms on large-scale data, design pilots, measure impact, and scale successful prototypes into policies and programs.
• Use causal inference and other econometric methods to evaluate policy impact on employee outcomes.
• Examine how internal policies and external labor market conditions affect Amazon's hiring, development, and retention.
• Develop and recommend career path strategies using scientifically rigorous methods.
• Collaborate with engineers and data teams to create scalable data resources and bring models into production.
• Communicate findings and scientific approaches to business leaders, incorporating feedback.

The multidisciplinary team combines science and engineering to develop innovative solutions to position Amazon as Earth's best employer.

• PhD in economics or equivalent.

• 2+ years of industry, consulting, government, or academic research experience.
• Knowledge of at least one statistical software package such as R, Stata, Matlab, SAS.
• Experience in prediction and forecasting.
• Experience handling large datasets.
