Job Description & How to Apply Below
Mathematics Specialist (Masters/PhDs)
What if your expertise in advanced mathematics could directly shape how AI reasons through the world's most complex problems? We're looking for Mathematics Experts — Masters and PhD holders — to help train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models, ensuring they think with the precision, rigor, and depth that real mathematics demands.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for serious mathematicians. You'll work asynchronously alongside leading AI research teams, applying your deep domain knowledge to problems that matter.
Organization:
Alignerr
Type:
Hourly Contract
Location:
Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do- Develop, solve, and critically review advanced mathematical problems with real-world relevance and rigor
- Design complex problem statements across algebra, calculus, statistics, discrete mathematics, or related areas
- Evaluate AI-generated mathematical reasoning for correctness, depth, and clarity
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to improve model performance
- Ensure mathematical precision, logical structure, and conceptual accuracy across all deliverables
- Work independently on task-based assignments — on your own schedule
- Hold a Master's or PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field
- Deeply proficient in one or more of: algebra, calculus, statistics, or discrete mathematics
- Experienced using Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica in research or applied projects
- Exceptionally detail-oriented — you catch errors others miss and hold your work to a high standard
- A clear, precise written communicator who can explain complex ideas with confidence
- Fluent in English and based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand
- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality assurance, or AI evaluation workflows
- Background in academic research, applied mathematics, or quantitative modeling
- Familiarity with AI tools or machine learning concepts as an end user or researcher
- Work on genuinely cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — structure your work around your life, not the other way around
- Freelance autonomy with the substance of meaningful, intellectually stimulating work
- Make a direct, lasting impact on how AI understands and applies advanced mathematics
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
