Job Overview
The Infrastructure Engineering role is responsible for the firm’s core infrastructure platforms across a hybrid environment that includes on‑premises data centers, public cloud services, and SaaS solutions. It leads a team of infrastructure engineers accountable for day‑to‑day operational excellence and the delivery of strategic initiatives that modernize our systems, including the consolidation of our on‑premises DR data center, expansion of M365 services, and lifecycle management of critical infrastructure technologies.
The role is expected to drive increased adoption of automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) across technology stacks and coordinate with a dedicated Tier 2 Systems Administration team to ensure smooth operations.
- Proven management skills with the ability to mentor staff members.
- Own the design, operation, and continuous improvement of a hybrid infrastructure environment spanning on‑premises data center technologies (EMC Storage, Dell servers, VMWare ESX and VDI, Rubrik backups, server OS, etc.), cloud deployments (EKS, FSXn, S3, Open search, etc.), and SaaS solutions (Entra , M365 Exchange, One Login, etc.).
- Establish and maintain operational standards for monitoring, alerting, backup, recovery, patching, and lifecycle management.
- Lead the ongoing journey toward Infrastructure as Code (IaC), evaluate, refine, and prioritize projects and responsibilities to end users utilizing Jira and Jira Service Desk (Incident Management and Tier 3 support requests).
- Develop and enforce IT standards, procedures, policies, and best practices for the infrastructure team.
- Maintain a security focus to confirm best practices are followed and remediation is applied in a timely manner.
- Participate in audits (SOC1) and client inquiries as required.
- Provide guidance to team members to foster professional growth and increase work productivity.
- Support the resolution of escalated issues and conduct root‑cause discovery of production‑impacting events.
- Review and enhance documentation for troubleshooting and resolution procedures for all levels of support.
- Lead assigned projects with a holistic approach, address gaps identified, and implement automation where possible.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
- 5+ years managing infrastructure systems teams in a production capacity.
- 5+ years designing, implementing, and managing infrastructure platforms such as Microsoft Active Directory, M365, Microsoft ADFS, and VMWare vSphere/vCenter/ESX.
- 2+ years promoting Dev Ops, SRE, or platform engineering practices.
- Experience with Disaster Recovery solutions (Zerto, VMWare SRM, Microsoft AG, etc.).
- Ability to develop long‑term strategic infrastructure enterprise goals and create technology roadmaps.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to foster relationships across teams and build trust among peers.
- Experience with AWS or Azure technology implementations as an owner/architect/builder (desired).
- Solid understanding of multi‑site design and hybrid designs.
- Knowledge of application flow and systems design is desirable.
- Development or automation background specific to Infrastructure as code.
The base salary range for this position is $130,000 – $290,000 per year. Total compensation includes base salary, annual discretionary bonuses, and a robust benefits package. The final placement within the range will depend on relevant experience, qualifications, certifications, duties, and other factors.
