We are seeking a Lead Network Engineer to serve as the primary architect and hands‑on administrator for our enterprise network. As a Windows‑centric shop heavily integrated with Microsoft’s ecosystem, the successful candidate will oversee a hybrid environment that bridges on‑premise infrastructure across five campus buildings with a significant footprint in the Azure Cloud.
This role is central to maintaining the connectivity and authentication pathways for our core academic and administrative platforms, including Jenzabar (ERP‑SIS), Canvas (LMS), and our Quick Launch IAM solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Hybrid Infrastructure Management:
Design, implement, and maintain a resilient network architecture that supports 2,500+ users, ensuring seamless connectivity between on‑premise hardware and Azure Cloud services. - Identity & Access Management (IAM):
Manage and optimize the Quick Launch IAM tool to provide secure, single sign‑on (SSO) capabilities and automated provisioning across campus applications. - Microsoft Enterprise Suite Administration:
Optimize and secure our Microsoft 365 (O365) environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams, ensuring high availability for students, staff and faculty. - Application Connectivity:
Ensure robust, low‑latency network paths and secure integration for mission‑critical systems, specifically our Jenzabar ERP and Canvas LMS environments. - Cloud Networking & Security:
Manage WAN connections, Azure virtual networks (VNets), Express Route/VPN gateways, Palo Alto and Azure Firewalls. Implement and maintain identity policies using Entra Conditional Access. - Network Operations:
Direct responsibility for network components, including core switches, access points, and wireless controllers. Manage the lifecycle and connectivity for enterprise servers. - Endpoint Management with Ninja One RMM tool.
- Transition Leadership:
Act as the technical lead during the migration from the current third‑party vendor to internal operations, establishing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Technical Qualifications
Expertise:
Deep technical knowledge of Windows Server (2019/2022) and the Azure networking stack.
IAM & SSO
Proven experience managing Identity and Access Management tools (specifically Quick Launch or similar) and integrating them with SaaS platforms like Canvas.
Higher Ed Systems
Familiarity with the networking requirements of Student Information Systems (SIS), with specific experience in Jenzabar environments considered a significant plus.
Networking
Proficiency in VLAN tagging, BGP/OSPF routing, and managing high‑density WiFi environments for 2,200+ students. Must have hands‑on experience managing and configuring Cisco and Palo Alto hardware to ensure robust and secure network operations.
Security
Strong experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and implementing Zero Trust architecture.
Education/Experience
7+ years of network engineering experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., AZ‑700 or CCNP) are strongly preferred.
