Pay Range: $70-85/hr
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Fully Remote (Strong preference for Boston, MA area candidates)
About the OpportunityOur client, a leader in EdTech and SaaS, is looking for a skilled Senior Dev Ops Engineer to join their expanding Dev Ops group for a 6+ month contract-to-hire engagement. This is a chance to contribute to the evolution of the AWS cloud infrastructure supporting their award‑winning i‑Ready SaaS application, which serves a third of the nation’s K‑8 students. This is a high‑impact role that requires a self‑motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables- Develop and advance "shift left" capabilities in Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
- Build, operate, scale, and troubleshoot the SaaS infrastructure in an Agile environment.
- Write tools for systems and infrastructure automation.
- Enhance monitoring tools, build infrastructure, and source code management, ensuring seamless integration between infrastructure and applications.
- Support other teams' build and infrastructure needs and participate in an on‑call rotation to provide operations coverage.
- 6+ years of Dev Ops experience.
- Deep expertise in Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt) and Terraform (or Cloud Formation). This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
- Extensive experience with AWS Cloud technologies (e.g., EC2, RDS, Cloud Front, Cloud Watch, DynamoDB) and container orchestrators like ECS.
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools and processes, including Git, Jenkins, and Nexus.
- Experience with languages such as Python/Go and technologies including MySQL, Java/Tomcat/Apache, and Splunk for systems monitoring/management.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
- Experience operating a 24/7 production web application.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to lead and provide mentorship to team members.
