About The Role
The Business Data Analyst sits at the intersection of business strategy, product analytics, and data engineering. The role is responsible for transforming raw operational data into actionable insights that drive product features, customer acquisition strategies, and executive decision-making.
Working closely with cross-functional product, finance, and marketing teams, this role designs and maintains central reporting pipelines, conducts deep-dive exploratory analysis, and establishes the foundational metrics used to evaluate business health and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize business-critical dashboards and reporting pipelines in Tableau or Looker to track core KPIs
- Write complex SQL queries to extract, clean, and aggregate large datasets from Snowflake or Big Query data warehouses
- Build and maintain robust, documented data models in dbt to support self-service analytics across business units
- Perform exploratory data analysis and statistical testing to identify trends, diagnose performance anomalies, and validate business hypotheses
- Partner with product managers and engineers to define telemetry and tracking requirements for new product features
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear, structured presentations and written narratives for non-technical stakeholders
What We Are Looking For
- 3–6 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or analytics engineering in a fast-paced technology environment
- Expert-level SQL proficiency, with the ability to write clean, performance-optimized queries and window functions over large-scale datasets
- Hands-on experience with modern BI tools (Looker/LookML, Tableau) and data modeling frameworks (dbt)
- Strong foundational understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ETL/ELT pipelines
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with a track record of translating complex metrics into actionable business recommendations
- Bonus:
Experience with Python or R for statistical analysis, familiarity with product analytics tools like Amplitude or Mixpanel, or a BS in a quantitative field
