Asset Information Analyst

The Asset Information Analyst supports the MBTA Asset Management Program by collecting, validating, analyzing, and maintaining asset information used to support infrastructure lifecycle management, regulatory reporting, capital planning, and maintenance decision-making. In accordance with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Transit Asset Management requirements, the position supports asset inventories, condition assessment programs, Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) activities, asset hierarchy development, and data governance across MBTA infrastructure assets.

The Asset Information Analyst develops reports, dashboards, and data analyses to evaluate asset condition, identify trends, improve data quality, and support engineering, maintenance, and capital investment decisions. Working collaboratively with Asset Information Managers, engineering teams, maintenance personnel, and capital delivery staff, the position ensures asset information is accurate, complete, and aligned with MBTA asset management standards and best practices.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collect asset data, maintain, and analyze asset information supporting the MBTA Asset Management Program.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews of asset inventories, condition assessments, and Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) data.
  • Review asset datasets to identify inconsistencies, missing information, duplicate records, hierarchy issues, and data integrity concerns.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, visualizations, and performance metrics that support asset lifecycle management and engineering decision-making.
  • Conduct trend analyses to identify asset deterioration, recurring defects, maintenance performance, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support development and maintenance of asset hierarchies, naming conventions, metadata, and data governance standards.
  • Prepare and validate asset data imports, updates, and data loaders within the Enterprise Asset Management System.
  • Support asset information intake associated with capital projects, rehabilitation programs, inspections, and asset transfers.
  • Analyze condition assessment results using FTA State of Good Repair methodologies and support Transit Asset Management reporting requirements.
  • Assist with preparation of annual FTA Transit Asset Management submissions and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, capital delivery, GIS, and information technology teams to improve asset data quality and consistency.
  • Review technical drawings, engineering documents, specifications, and asset records to validate asset information.
  • Support development and continuous improvement of asset management processes, standards, and documentation.
  • Conduct field verification activities to confirm asset information and support data validation efforts.
  • Prepare technical reports and recommendations for managers and leadership supporting capital planning and maintenance prioritization.
  • Monitor compliance with departmental policies, asset management standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support special projects related to asset information management, reporting, analytics, and system implementation.
  • Respond to each inquiry, from a customer, vendor, or co-worker professionally and courteously.
  • Respond or report to work as directed by supervisory personnel for emergencies, extreme weather conditions, or any other abnormal conditions that impair service or the safety of service, twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, GIS, Mathematics, Statistics, Transportation, Business Analytics, Asset Management, or a related field.
