This role is for someone who has already worked in benefits operations and can step in quickly during Open Enrollment and year end. If you have not done benefits administration work inside an HRIS and you have not supported employees with benefits questions, you will not enjoy this role and will not be considered for this opening.
To be a strong match, you should be able to say yes to all of the following- You have 2 plus years of hands on benefits administration or benefits operations experience
- You have supported employees or retirees with benefits questions by email and phone
- You have processed benefits changes inside an HRIS, ideally Workday Benefits
- You have supported Open Enrollment, including testing, validation, or election troubleshooting
- You can use Excel for audits and reconciliation work, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
Join a Total Rewards team and provide hands on operational support during Open Enrollment and year end. This is not a strategic program design role. It is benefits operations execution with a heavy focus on accuracy, employee facing communication, and follow through.
Work arrangement information:
- Work arrangement: hybrid, 2 days on site and 3 days remote in a typical week

Options to work in Boston or Hingham for on-site days - Job Type: Contract
- Contract length: through February 2027
- Pay rate: $35/hour
- Answer benefits questions from employees and retirees by email and phone
- Support a shared HR inbox with Tier 2 benefits questions, using FAQs and templates when appropriate
- Research questions and elevate when needed, but do not rely on escalation for routine issues
- Handle retiree medical questions and eligibility based follow up where applicable
- Review benefits changes submitted through Workday and confirm plan rules and eligibility
- Assist with Open Enrollment support and testing
- Validate rates, eligibility logic, and election behavior during UAT or parallel testing
- Help troubleshoot issues where employee elections or rates do not align with plan rules
- Process monthly benefits invoices and support discrepancy resolution with vendors
- Perform Excel based audits, eligibility checks, and reconciliation work
- Format and manipulate spreadsheets prior to sharing with Payroll and internal partners
- Update and format Summary Plan Descriptions and benefits documents
- Benefits administration or benefits operations experience, 2 plus years
- HRIS experience processing benefits changes, ideally Workday Benefits
- Open Enrollment support experience, hands on
- Excel skills for audits and reconciliation, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
- Strong quality control habits, you can explain how you check your work before sending it
- Clear, patient communication style with employees, including when someone is anxious or frustrated
