The Opportunity:
The Next Generation Underwriting Program is an accelerated development experience designed to provide early-career talent with broad exposure to underwriting and the insurance business. As an Associate Underwriter, you will support QBE underwriters by preparing quotes, following up with producers, and reviewing plan changes and amendments while developing a strong foundation in underwriting principles and operations.
Throughout the program, you will gain exposure to multiple lines of business and key functions across QBE, including Commercial, Specialty, Reinsurance, Claims, and other areas that contribute to delivering exceptional outcomes for customers and partners. Working closely with experienced professionals, you will build technical underwriting knowledge, strengthen business acumen, and develop the interpersonal and professional skills needed to thrive in a dynamic, global organization.
As a valued member of the Next Generation Underwriting Program cohort, you will begin your journey with a comprehensive onboarding experience designed to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to make an immediate impact. Through hands‑on learning, meaningful business experiences, formal development opportunities, and a strong support network of leaders, mentors, and peers, you will gain a holistic understanding of the insurance value chain and how different parts of the business work together to serve customers.
Upon successful completion of the program, you will transition into a role aligned with your strengths, interests, and business needs, empowered to apply your expertise and continue building a long‑term career with QBE.

Boston, MA - Work Arrangement:
This position is based full-time in our office and requires on‑site attendance. - The salary range for this role is: $47.00
- Review the recommendations made based on QBE's appetite, pricing, coverage, and conditions of new business.
- Support the management of an assigned book of business under the supervision of a Senior Associate and/or Underwriter.
- Maintain and develop relationships with assigned select brokers.
- Evaluate risk on current customers and prospects.
- Provide a timely and professional level of service to internal and external customers.
- Assist with the review and analysis of the portfolio to evaluate progress toward business objectives and identify opportunities.
- Consistently adhere to underwriting compliance with business and regulatory requirements.
- Support the execution of timely and efficient underwriting activities by following established guidelines.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Experience with underwriting and insurance coursework.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Principles and processes for providing customer service
- Terminology, function and fundamental capabilities of common computers, software, information and communication technology devices, components, and concepts
The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate’s professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full‑time and part‑time employees will also be eligible for QBE’s annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance.
