Boston Children's Hospital seeks a Medical Interpreter II to provide accurate, confidential language services for pediatric patients and families. In this onsite role, you will interpret during exams, procedures, and care conferences, ensuring clear understanding of diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a mission-driven, innovation-focused environment, supporting culturally competent, safe care. Using state-of-the-art systems, you will uphold interpreter ethics, HIPAA standards, and contribute to quality and patient safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, confidential interpretation between patients, families, and clinical staff in a pediatric setting.
  • Interpret during exams, procedures, family meetings, and care conferences.
  • Support clear understanding of diagnoses, treatment plans, consent forms, and discharge instructions.
  • Perform sight translation of educational materials and limited written documents.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to ensure culturally and linguistically appropriate services.
  • Uphold HIPAA, hospital policies, and interpreter ethics and standards of practice.
  • Assist in coordinating interpreter services and prioritizing urgent requests.
  • Participate in training, quality, and safety initiatives to improve service delivery.

Required Skills

  • Bilingual or multilingual fluency (English and target language)
  • Medical terminology in pediatrics and general medicine
  • Consecutive and simultaneous interpretation
  • Sight translation of medical documents
  • Electronic health record (EHR) navigation
