Interpreter Mandarin​/Cantonese

Hebrew Senior Life seeks a Per Diem Mandarin/Cantonese Interpreter to support older adults and families across our senior living, rehabilitation, and home- and community-based programs. In this flexible, as-needed role, you will provide accurate, confidential interpretation between Mandarin/Cantonese and English during medical visits, assessments, care conferences, and social work encounters. You will help convey complex clinical and psychosocial information, support culturally responsive care, and ensure elders understand diagnoses, treatments, and services in a respectful, inclusive environment aligned with our mission-driven culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person and virtual Mandarin and Cantonese interpretation for older adult patients, families, and care teams
• Accurately interpret medical, social, and psychosocial information while preserving meaning and tone
• Support communication during clinical visits, assessments, care planning, and family meetings
• Ensure confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA and professional interpreter ethics
• Prepare in advance by reviewing appointment context and relevant terminology when possible
• Document interpreted encounters per Hebrew Senior
• Life protocols
• Collaborate with clinicians, social workers, and support staff to ensure language access
• Assist with translation of simple written patient materials as needed
• Clarify cultural nuances that may impact understanding of care plans
• Participate in training and quality improvement related to language access
