Interpreter

Tufts Medical Center seeks a skilled Interpreter to facilitate clear, accurate communication between patients, families, and healthcare teams within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, culturally sensitive interpretation between patients, families, and clinical staff in a healthcare setting
• Support informed consent discussions, assessments, discharge planning, and patient education encounters
• Ensure adherence to HIPAA and professional interpreting ethics in all patient interactions
• Assist with documentation support and accurate communication of medical histories, symptoms, and care plans
• Use in-person and remote (phone/video) modalities to meet clinical and scheduling needs
• Collaborate with care teams to reduce language barriers and improve patient outcomes
• Maintain competency in medical terminology and institutional procedures through ongoing training

Required Skills

• Medical interpretation (consecutive and/or simultaneous)
• Fluent bilingual proficiency in target language(s) and English
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
• Healthcare documentation and EMR systems
• Cultural competence in diverse patient populations
• Confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
• Note-taking and message retention
