REQUIREMENTS
An advanced degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field of studyPrior patent experienceStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to collaborate and work effectively in team settingsSound judgment, maturity, and an inquisitive natureInterpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with business leaders, attorneys, scientists, engineers, inventors, and patent examinersA strong work ethic paired with the ability to juggle multiple job responsibilitiesRESPONSIBILITIES
Review technical disclosures and participate in client interviews to understand new inventionsSearch literature and patent databases to determine the patentability of inventionsDraft written assessments of the prospects of obtaining patent protectionWrite patent applicationsPrepare responses to communications from the U.S. Patent and Trademark OfficeDevelop arguments for patentability to Patent Office ExaminersReview patents as part of the IP due diligence for a potential acquisition or mergerSUMMARY
