Job Summary
Freight Forwarder (Aerospace) – Full Time – USA, Boston, McClellan Hwy – Division:
Air & Sea. The primary duty is to review and process shipment transactions for major accounts, provide proactive customer service, and serve as the primary contact for all parties concerning assigned account contracts. The role requires correct, cost‑efficient performance following company standards with independent judgment.
- Promote positive relationships by ensuring timely, proactive customer service and monitoring service quality produced by the team.
- Receive, review, and process high‑volume and/or complex import and export transactions, including booking, billing, classification, processing data through the company’s system, and obtaining consular and other agency releases as appropriate.
- Check shipments in the warehouse to ensure shipping documents match actual shipments.
- Process bills of lading and provide clear instructions to the team for handling each shipment.
- Ensure hazardous material shipments are checked and processed in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Create quotations for individual shipments, estimating prices, selecting transportation companies, and setting profit margins.
- Review and monitor all Shipper Export Declaration rejections and requests for information from clients and government agencies.
- Communicate changes in domestic and foreign shipping regulations to clients, co‑workers, and third parties in a clear, concise, and timely manner.
- Identify transactions that require special handling, recommend process improvements, and implement resolutions within the assigned scope.
- Investigate and resolve client concerns proactively, monitoring team performance against company and client standards, and alert clients to potential issues.
- Three years experience in a client‑facing role.
- Familiarity with domestic and international geography.
- Extreme attention to detail, ability to predict and prevent issues.
- Ability to remain highly productive under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Mathematical Skills – Excellent math skills; capable of calculating freight measurements, weights, and converting to international units.
- Other Skills – Geographic knowledge, detail orientation, productivity under pressure, and strong communication.
- Freight forwarding experience.
- Prior use of Cargo Wise One.
- English – reading, writing, and verbal.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
The role requires using hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, or crouching; speaking or hearing; and using computer and telephone equipment. Vision requirements include both close and distance vision.
Compensation and Benefits- Pay range: $22.00 – $29.75 hourly.
